Weird Sound
Just recently my car starting making a weird noises. Sounds like two metal pieces hitting each other. The sound is coming from the rear axle, rear wheels area. It only makes the sound when I am decelerating. Is this the differential on its last leg? If so how bad is it to drive the car, should I get it towed to the shop?

the noise is more likely than not being made at all speeds but only noticeable when decelerating. you should look under your car any sighs of leaks from the trany and diff. but if the car runs fine it may be something like a bad bearing or worn out bushings.

I am pretty sure it is only when decelerating because the noise is so ridiculously obnoxious and it goes away if i give any amount of gas to the engine.

rattling exhaust?
|
No, but that has been a problem in the past. It's not a rattling sound it's a grinding sound.
