Question wheel shake?

hi all just bought a 97 s14 about a month ago only 70,000 km, the problem is that if a go over 120km/h the wheel and gear shift starts to shake and shakes quite violently after I pass 140km/h. any idea what might cause this?

it may be an alignment issue, brake rotors, or tie rods. check them all. good luck.

could be a bad brake caliper problem. I had a similar problem. would shake violently after 40mph. replaced the caliper and it was fine.

thanks for the replys guys, i just hope its not somsthing that will cost alot, as I dont have the facilitys or the know how to fix a motor mount issue. atleast i know what i should be looking for when i take it into the shop. i dont trust most mechanics anyway. bad expieriences. with my last car 97 eclipse the oil light came on so i took it in and the guy actually told me that i was low on oil..... needless to say the engine blew before I could find out the real issue, lol

nismo motor and tranny mounts are less than $200 and can be installed by anybody, just takes a little time and effort. Also getting an alignment is always good.

I got the alignment done 4 days ago, but its the same, the brakes were replaced about a month before I bought the car by the last owner so it could be the caliper issue. we shal see. and would replacing motor/tranny mounts require you to lift the engine out... becuase that is my problem, no cherrypicker and or a friend that is mechanically enclined enough to do so,

to change the trany mount you will only need the actual tools(the braket that holds the trany mount takes 2 bolts on each side and has a hole in the midle of the actual bolt holes i didn't know that thats actualy to alling the bolt holes,it took me an hour to figure it out;the motor mounts are actually not that bad i actually odered and installed the nismo motor and trany mounts i ordered from enjuku racing farly fast delivery, what i did is put a couple of soft pices of wood on my jack to suport the engine, make sure you take off the acctual brackets that bolt on to the block to make instalation go smoother, good luck(p.s. if you lift up the car it should be prety eazy to see if the mounts are bad)

i dont' know if this is the same as for you but i just got a new set of rear wheels on and when i go over 60mph, the steering wheel, shifter, and car shakes. i'm assuming the guy that mounted the tires didn't do a decent job on the balancing of the wheels.

my friend had a supra and when he went over 60 the car would shake and make a vibrating noise all he had to do was tightening his driveshaft bolts because they were almost totally off
