I'm 18 by the way and very new to nissan and my dad said this car at his work for $1,999 and I thought great deal. I was wondering what year and what kind of motor would be in it. Everything is stock except wheels...heres pics..

Take a picture of the engine, it would be a lot easier to tell you if we could see the engine

Well I couldn't find the woman that drove it so I couldn't get a pic of it.

I don't know too much about S13s, but with the front end I am going to guess it is a Chuki and has a KA24DE and not a KA24E. So between 91 and 93, and based on the paint I would say closer to 91 heh.

scooz14 10-18-2007 01:47 PM

i would bet 91-92

but it IS a ka24de unless it has been swapped

Ok so for fact it is above a 1990 model and it is a KA24DE (DOHC) motor? Cause I know everything is stock except wheels. Also, Is it worth the buy for just 1,999?

jramosthe1st! 10-18-2007 03:18 PM

 89 and 90 came with the kae engine

Back on topic, 2K for an S13 is normal. Go for it bro!:checkeredflag:

ryguy 10-18-2007 04:11 PM

OH MY GOD, THAT CAR IS A 91-93 AND HAS A DOUBLE OVERHEAD CAM KA24DE MOTOR, MAKING 155 HORSEPOWER. EVERY 89-90 HAD THE KA24E AND EVERY SINGLE 91-98 HAD A KA24DE. God this thread is full of fail. Anyways, I would say that 2k is an ok price. The only things that need repainting are the hood and front bumper, and the rest of the car looks rust free. Those wheels are meh though. Plus it's 5 speed :bigok:

Looks like she has a decent radio and you are basically guaranteed a DOHC, only draw-back is that paint, but you can replace that, especially if you don't like the color in the first place. I would say buy it, but get a mechanically knowledgeable friend, family member, or mechanic to check it out and make sure there isn't anything glaringly wrong.

Edit for ryguys post: heh, I stated all that stuff at the beginning lol why did it have to get so complicated!?

I don't know that was just a typo or not, but in the posts after that the thread just went to hell (not saying it was all your fault, not by a long shot.)

nightkid86 10-18-2007 04:26 PM

As mentioned above the car pictured is a 91-93 240sx hatchback with a KA24DE (double cam 2.4 liter motor). The jargon for the 91-94 model is "chuki"

the s13 was produced from 1989 to 1994. 1989-1990 had a KA24E single cam motor and a different front bumper. the 1994s were all convertibles.

If the mileage is decent then 2k is an alright price for it. Most s13's go for 1-3k. The paint doesn't look great so maybe you could talk them down to 1.5k. Also, there is most likely rust under the spoiler.

Well the radio I didn't really look at but I don't think has ipod adapter which is what I want so i'm prob gonna haft to buy another cd player. I dont mind the mis paint cause I thin kI can get a deal from where my mom works on that. My brother whose a nopi tech or something would be the one telling me all the best parts I should get for it and where to start and hes putting them on.Other thing thats wrong with it is it has what looks like a key skratch from the gas tank going about 3 feet towards the passenger door.

Kaiser 10-18-2007 07:46 PM

You can get the scratch fixed when you get it painted probably. I would jump on it if those are your only concerns. Especially if your brother is a tech, he can help you with any mechanical problems that come up.
