Wtf did i do wrong?

Ok i decided to clean my engine bay for the first time I believe in this car's life. I covered the distributor and the altenator and went at it with simple green and a hose. The engine bay looks mint but now the damn thing hesitates. I use to be able to chirp them from 1st to 2nd when I switched gears. Now the thing feels like I'm pulling a bus. Oh and by the way the 3rd cyclinder when i take out the plugs I can hear a squeesy sound and there is some brownish green oil/watery stuff. I pretty sure water got in there when i was cleaning it. Thanks in advance

sorry dont have an answer for you but..... i've heard a lot of things going wrong with the hose. thats why i always use a damp rag (with some oil) and wipe everything down. usually takes about a good hour but i never have to worry about water damage. hopefully someone will have an answer for you.

you got some water into the spark plug wells... take some w-d 40 and spray some in. DO NOT SATURATE IT. idle the car for a little while then drive it around.

it may take more than one time but i wouldn't do it more than three.

... i use a hose, i have no problem... just don't spray the head, or vital parts... skim over them.

Your mistake was probably the most common... I'm going to guess you started the engine up before letting it dry? It doesn't have to be completely dry, in fact thats bad. You should let it dry for about 5-10 min. Then keep the hood open and let the car idle for about 10 min.
The heat will dry it off, then drive it around slowly for a few min... then your fine.

Make sure you take your plugs out and clean them now, too.

... who knew there was so much to cleaning an engine. First time i cleaned mine i went at it for 2 and a half hours. ALSO, if you had any exposed wires, the simple green can chew them up just enough, if its left on there too long.

yeah, wd-40 will work.

you can also take out your plugs and use a air hose GENTLY spray the air into the spark plug holes.

wd-40 is definetly safer though

You may want to get new wires also, if the water prevented the the ignition spark this means that your wires had gotten really HOT. The wire strands are pretty sensitive I would replace them with some 8mm. Not only that but you will start to get early corrosion from the wire tip. Corrosion is a big no no and prevents a full ignition.
All you did was ground out early, instead of sending the discharge to the plug and then gounding out. After all a spark plug is a resistor.
