Carpet change with seatbelt change

I have a 92 coupe and will be going to new seat belts and getting rid of the track/motor system and using conventional 3 point type. The unit that sits in the rear footwell is no longer needed, but the carpet is molded to fit around this area if you buy new molded replacement carpet. Does anyone know if 95-98 carpet fits a 92. Pictures I have seen seem to show nearly identical floor pan and tunnel areas. I would like to get rid of that dead space in the rear footwell area on each side if possible and use new molded carpet from 95-98 Thanks

I wonder if you could heat up the carpet with a heat gun where it's contoured and re-mold it to a more appropriate shape for your application. The s14 is slightly wider and I think you could have a lot of fitment issues by the doors even if it fits over the trans tunnel and other areas okay.

reheating carpet

That reheating of the carpet sounds like a good idea
I think I'll try it on my old carpet.... it's beat up anyway
and I have a heat gun allready
Thanks

yeah give it a try. I would only heat the back side though so you don't singe the fibers
