question?
to take off that little cover on over the exhaust header, what do i have to do? cause like i looked at it and thought about it..haha. will it come right off after i undo those two bolts?
|
post all question in the how to request section bro.
you have to remove the 10mm bolts and remove the EGR pipe using a Adjustable wrench and or you can take tin cutter and cut the metal around the EGR pipe. advice. soak the EGR fitting down with PB blaster etc a day prior |

you dont need the egr thing. but u may want to study up on the egr system and vacuum lines. i would suggest leaving the egr pipe because its hard to find something to plug up the hole that will be left in the exhaust manifold. at least it was for me. as for the exhaust shield, i know it looks kinda heterosexual, but it does keep stuff a lil cooler under your hood like your brake master cylinder and spark plug wires. its also hard as hell to maneuver off of your exhaust after you take all the bolts off and i didnt have to take the egr pipe off.

the stock manifold is not a beauty or anything bro... leave it for now. as far as blocking the intake manifold off, you can just get this for 10 bucks on ebay. EGR block off plate http://images.marketplaceadvisor.cha...47/ka24b0p.jpg and for the actual pipe on the exhaust manifold, you can just screw a brass fitting into it that has been treated with some high temp silicon for a air tight seal. if you have a welder of any sort, you can welded it shut. |

if u mess with that stuff, u'll run the risk of messing up ur idle. enjoy ur car tho. take off whatever u want. fix it. u'll learn ur car better n quicker.
|
i never had idle issues ever.. if anything, it was better after removing all of that crap. check with your local laws, if you have emissions stations and you don't know anyone, leave it alone.

well than.. remove it and start freeing your engine bay of useless crap.
|
i advise against disabling the egr. it will ruin your mpg and somewhat effect your idle because you'll be running rich all the time. locals laws or not the epa is a federal agency whom develops and oversees the adherence to congressional laws regarding such violations. so don't do it, that is unless you don't intend to drive the car on public roads and have some sort of fuel management system to curve the fuel at lower rpms.
|
yeaup what he said.. if you plan on just driving it on the streets only.
My car was fine after doing it, I totaly altered my KA in everyway externally. MPG didnt matter to me as i raced anyway. |
they said it all, but i will add
if you get yourself a nice set of headers than u can rebend/cut that heat shield an put it around the brake master cylinder, iv seen that done before, but if you were to get some ceramic coated headers then engine bay temp shouldnt go up a whole ton, you could also use exhaust wrap, personally i always thought that looked pretty tight and its functional |
