question about battery relocate wires.......

ok, so ive had some built up store credit at auto zone for returned parts and what not, anyway....i picked up a marine box/battery box for free. got home and found my old amp and wiring kit i had with it. The power wire is 5GA and about 15 or so FT long with a 100A fuse 10in from the end of it. Would this be sufficient enough to run to the trunk?? And also have a 9GA ground wire about 3ft long.....same question regarding its sufficiency in grounding in the trunk??( or is it to small of a GA???) thanx guys. later

5GA is prob fine but that ground needs to be bigger.

would it be kool to just unbolt and move the current ground wire and use that one in the trunk?? sweet...thanx smoke

you need to ground your motor though. Alot of your electrical stuff is grounded on your motor.

sounds like a dummy ques....but how i do that??

well just leave your main ground wire on that goes from the battery to the chassis to the motor. Your just going to leave the part that goes to the battery loose. Or you can cut it off. Then you need to get a cable to go from the battery to somewhere on the chassis near the battery. You could use a starter cable from autozone. It already has a lug on it and if I remember correctly, it comes with a terminal clamp for the battery. If not, then just buy new ones.

good lookin out man. that helped me out so much. its always the simple shyt that slows me down. appriciate the help bro bro.

Also.....dude that works at auto zone said im wasting my time moving the battery to the trunk. He said that my car will have such a major loss in power or somthing because of the power wire bein so long. anyone know aynthing bout this?? or is he just mad cuz he drives a honduh and i have a sweet as shyt 240??

he is just stupid. There isnt going to be much if any resistance in that wire. You would need like 100ft of wire for it to make a difference. Dont listen to the gay honda dude. Race cars have their batteries in the rear. I know alot of stuff about electrical wiring and I doubt he does. The battery will also throw some weight to the rear of your car which isnt a bad thing.
