Aftermarket Oil Gauge Install
1 Attachment(s)
I am putting in mechanical gauge on my 93' KA, I will post all pics and descriptions soon. I am going to Tee off of the pressure sender.
Quest. 1 - Anyone know if you can disable the stock electrical press. sensor. or would it be easier to just Tee off of the fitting. Quest. 2 - Anyone know the size fitting and thread size once I get to the thing. The FSM doesnt specify and I would like to get a Tee beforehand. |
cool i have done the electronic version.. mechanical will be tough for novice becuase if you clamp the ferrel to hard it will break and if not hard enough oil will leak in your cabin
you can T it off or you can get a 1/8npt T and 1/8npt fittings. the gauge is better than that of the stock sensor becuase by the time that light comes on, its already to late. now if your turbo you can get an + fitting and run then all if you want. my write up http://www.club240.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40055 |
Thanks for the help! thats awesome i cant wait to get in there and tear it up. Did you use a big socket to get the plastic sender piece off or what? Anyhow I will tell report what i find. PEACE

nope.. just an adjustable wrench... take the filter off to create space so that you can get a big socket on it.. i wanna say its like a 22mm or something..
also when i said Novice bro i was talking in general lol. |

I put my thru hull in using one those metal drywall things and my rubber. And still have to get down in there and yank on that oil press sender bolt.

i thought it was dangerous to have a mechanical one in the cabin they why most pple use electric or put the mechanical guage outside
|
Yeh it might be dangerous that is a good point it could blow loose and shoot hot oil up my old ladies skirt. Anyway I got it all installed now and I will post pics soon, but it seems to already have an oozing leak at the block fitting. I will try to re do that one. But yeh your right a digital is better cause you dont have that oil run all the way in your cabin. I could put in a tap in the cabin and dring some Texas tea whilst driving.

LOL.. yea man you dont need that.. hhahha
