How To Install Inner/Outer Tie Rods
7 Attachment(s)
Time: About 2 hours
Skill: Fairly easy Ok the first step is remove the cotter pin hold the hex nut on, then remove the hex nut (19mm) Next get a pry fork or a hammer and know the tie rod end bolt out Attachment 17134 Ok now pull back the boot enough to get the the end of the tie rod, now you can use whatever u choose to pry back the clip, its folded on all for sides..(either purchase a new clip if ur not using the angle spacers, or just take it off and leave it off) here u can see the clip bent back Attachment 17135 now get a large wrench (i used a crescent wrench) and loosen the tie rod where u removed the clip it..it make be tight so just grow some muscle or find a cheater bar of some sort now here is what ur left with, kinda cleaned up a bit Attachment 17136 now match up the lengths as best as possible, make sure if u are using the angle spacers that u compensate for the added length Attachment 17137 Attachment 17138 Now assuming ur using the angle spacers and not the locking clip, make sure u get some blue lock tight and hit the threads on the inner tie rod nice and good.. then just screw it back in (make sure u have the boot already over before you screw the tie rod in..then re-tighten..just crank them on good and then strap up the tie rod boots Attachment 17139 Attachment 17140 then tighten the hex nut on the outer rod to 25ft. lbs. , then turn it just enough further to get the new cotter pin in..bend it back and your finished just repeat on the other side and enjoy your extra angle, it feels great:2gunsfiring_v1: |

i should be dead already. Having only 1 boot is bad..sand,dust dirt etc.. can get onto the rack and lessen life on the steering rack. |
im sure he knows that, thats why hes saying he should be dead already..
