How to replace AC Condenser?

Ive tried to search. Is there any write up on how to replace the AC Condenser on a S14? (Specifically 1998 240sx) I cant seem to find it anywhere. Thanks.

there's really not much to it other than disconnecting the high pressure line from the compressor and the line to the pressure switch. you'll have to remove the fan shroud and mechanical fan so you can pull the radiator back and have access to it though.

i know that's not a very detailed explanation, but there's not much to it. it you have a specific question i may be able to clarify.

if you dont know how to do this you shouldnt be working on your own car....

By the way, I do everything on my car that I can handle and understand, I just dont have any experience with Air Conditioning systems. I didnt think there was much to it, but i heard there can be complications while doing it with the freon, pressure and such.

just make sure you discharge the system.

How do I do that? the problem is that the condenser has a huge gash in it and i believe it leaked and probably dried out now.

if there's a gash in your condenser then there's no need to worry about discharging the system, that's already been take care of.

ok. so it'll be ok to replace it myself then take it to be charged?

yes, it would also be a good idea to replace all the o rings to be sure that there aren't any leaks present. i'm not sure how many there are but there are quite a few.
