How to sleeve your wiring harness 101
Hey Guys, as some of you know, I was inquiring about different types of heatshrink and sleeving a few weeks back. This will be for a new oem S13 SR harness, modified to fit in an S14. After hunting high and low for the sleeving, it seemed as everyone wanted to sell the stuff by 25' rolls and nothing less :( . Eventually I came across an industrial supply place here in Winter Park, FL that sells it by the foot :D . The name is Skycraft: Parts & Surplus (http://www.skycraftsurplus.com) I was so stoked, I went and paid them a visit. To my surprise I got there and found the place packed, you would of thought it was black friday in there or something, haha. They had a zillion different sizes and grades, so I ended up snaggin a few feet of each (for both the sleeving & heatshrink). I then rode home w/ my bounty and began the wiring fun :D . Overall, the process wasnt too bad. Once you have everything layed out, you will get a better idea on where to route & tuck things. You'll also need to de-pin EVERY plug in order to slide your sleeving on :banghead: just use a small flat head (eye glass ones work great!) Here's some pics of the finished product. Think I still might finish sleeving the cabin portion of the harness, but this is where I'm @ now. Feel free to email me w/ any questions silviapwr20@hotmail.com (sorry for the thumbnails, my pic uploading service was being wierd)
As you can see, I've extended the injector plugs since I'll be running a greddy intake, O2 was also extended. I plan on running a MAP sensor, so I eliminated the mafs plug (kept wires hidden in harness, just incase though) http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/2...2893tc2.th.jpghttp://img392.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Up close shot of the heatshrinkage http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/5...2894cx9.th.jpghttp://img205.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Here we're inside the car, notice the wiper amp & ignitor plugs ; ) http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/6...2892yi6.th.jpghttp://img392.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Injectors, knock, iacv, cas, tps http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/4...2890bq4.th.jpghttp://img392.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Injectors http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/169...2887rc3.th.jpghttp://img49.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Tuckin the sleeving..... http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/2...2877oi8.th.jpghttp://img205.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Packin up for the night, almost there! http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/206...2870iu3.th.jpghttp://img49.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Firewall grommet + wiper motor http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4...2872xp5.th.jpghttp://img205.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Ahhh, fresh supplies http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/1...2859qc2.th.jpghttp://img262.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif I split the O2 + Coilpack plugs separately from the rest of the gang http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/3...2897fk2.th.jpghttp://img395.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Another finished shot.... http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/6...2896fj4.th.jpghttp://img395.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/525/hpim2889oc3.th.jpghttp://img49.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif |
