^ yes it is melted

well everything is working well now, aside from the compression:
195, 195, 190, 200
what do you guys think about seafoaming? if i could bring it down to the 170-180 range i would be very pleased. thanks for any insight

neville610135 04-28-2007 01:26 PM

i may sound retarded, but is that an injector?

silviaks2nr 04-28-2007 01:32 PM

yes indeed

re037 04-28-2007 01:37 PM

yes, that is an injector. compression is a bit high, which is good imo.

compression cant be dropped down with seafoam. was the engine rebuilt recently?

silviaks2nr 04-28-2007 01:38 PM

no rebuild, but i was under the assumpmtion if there was a lot of carbon deposits and gunk on the pistons it might account for very high compression. seafoam supposedly helps burn off alot of the gunk.

RuizXIII 04-28-2007 02:09 PM

well I think you should attempt to run some seafoam then.
Give it a shot, and tell us how it goes.

re037 04-28-2007 03:56 PM

yah, thats good reasoning. go for it and let us know what happens. gl

ryguy 04-28-2007 11:01 PM

Damn, that seems unreasonably high. Did you use another gauge just to make sure?
I just googled it and that carbon build up seems like something too big for just a little seafoam to handle. Although, from personal experience, seafoam works wonders. It's like miracle juice. Its especially fun to put it in and then drive around making huge plumes of smoke.

Biggamehit 04-29-2007 08:32 AM

damn bro.... i have not seen anything like that,,,, i would try another guage... are u smelling anything funny?

silviaks2nr 04-29-2007 10:14 AM

it seems to be running fine, i havent yet driven it. it smoked a bit when i first started it with the new injector but that went away after a few minutes. my brother comp tested his n/a ka and got numbers in the high 180s to high 190s so maybe the gauge is slightly off.

Biggamehit 04-29-2007 06:37 PM

damn man cool..... i on the other hand just developed an strange case of no start at a meet with over 1000 cars so pissed bro... trouble shooting time.

silviaks2nr 04-29-2007 07:34 PM

:(
yeah i want to buy a daily driver so i can really make this my fast weekend car

cronux 04-29-2007 08:24 PM

ka18det..??? am i missing something..?

ahh... 3 cyls. damn im dumb.

Biggamehit 04-29-2007 09:28 PM

yay found out the issue after about 15 min of trouble shooting and adding the days events up

Blown piston ring/land

ka-tfresh 04-30-2007 01:29 PM

i'd just seafoam anyways...always a good idea... hey, maybe you have a quarter inch of sludge sitting on top of each of your pistons lol

why are injector o-rings one of the most prone things to going bad on a car...can't they make them out of something a little more capable of not breaking...
