Carlisle Custom Compact Show-Never again!

They are canceling our show because a few idiots wanted to go do stupid stuff.

Mardi Gras like environment ?? And I MISSED IT !! DAIMN

StanBo May 9, 2003 03:44 AM

It sounded like fun. I wish they had the security to take care of the event.

They should have been able to keep track of things.

I mean Mardi Gras is run every year and it is fine. So if they get the cops involved they can still run this.

This is the big show that I look forward to every year. I guess these "pennsylvania dutch" locals up there dont appreciate us making all of that ruckus. Damnit, I am going to miss this show.

My correspondance between me and carlisle staff member:

Becky,

This is Robert Parenteau from Streettuners.com. Is their a chance that
the show may continue elsewhere...perhaps somewhere outside of carlisle? I
have spoken to many other sport compact enthusiasts and they have expressed
interest in a show at another location due to the discontinuation of the
show at the fairgrounds. They also expressed a deep regret that a few bad
apples ruined the whole experience for us all. I must admit that since I
began writting articles, your show was the only show I actually enjoyed the
most, much more than the other large scale shows such as NOPI and Hot Import
Nights. Please keep me informed if their are any changes in the decision
for the future. Thank you ahead of time and I appreciate being contacted
about this.

Hi Robert,
We don't really know anything yet about another venue for the show. It would
be great if we could find somewhere to hold the event, and the company is
working on it. Thank you for your compliments on the show. I always enjoyed
it, and this year the quality of show cars was outstanding. But we have to
remain in good standing with the town, and in order to do that, had to
cancel the show here. It really is sad that the few people causing trouble
ruined it for the real enthusiasts.
You are on the list of people to be contacted with any information on this
event, so you'll definitely be among the first to know as soon as we find
out anything new.

It is good to see that they are trying to get another venue. It would be a shame to see such a show die. I know there were a bunch of our members down at the show. Both as spectators and working in booths.

Good luck everyone.

Well, if their is anything I can do about it I will keep it around...Becky has been very helpful in everything there.

It could be tough to find a place big enough for the Carlisle shows. I was thinking about the Mason-Dixon Dragstrip, but unless they fixed some of the surrounding fields, it wouldnt be nearly big enough. PS: anyone wanna meet down at Rockville, MD sometime?
