3 Inch exhaust on na motor??
What are the pros and cons of having a 3 inch exhaust on
a NA motor. Any response would be great.

from what i know and read... there is not much of a pro there... it's loud... and then theres the whole reverberation and the back pressure thing... and the heat dessipation ... and stuff... read the post up there.. it's stickied... read the whole thing and you'll understand that it's not a good idea in the whole shot ..

I Have 3 in from Header, through 3in High Flow Cat all the way to the Resonator and Muffler. The Pros are that it flows like a Mother and Sounds Mean. The Cons. I should of went 3in from the get go rather than buying a 2.5in and taking it off.

Loss of low-end torque and gains in the high end. Unless you get a highly resonated exhaust, it'll be hella loud.

I have a 3" cat back and it is VERY loud, sometimes annoying, the pros are that the car used to stop accelerating at about 5K now it pulls right through to 6.5K i didnt notice any drop in the low end, but the top end was DEFINATELY helped, but right now I still have a 2.25 cat and that is about to be changed.... ill keep you posted when I have that finished

I have a very huge exhaust leak so i wanted to change my pipe to a 3" because it is also useful for when i get a turbo, but i'll have to settle with just fixing the leak for now you can do **** on a supermarket salary dammit (I'm still in high skool)

i had a 2.5" hks hi-power before, great exhaust, but i need a 3" for my RB
so i got an Espelir JGT500R 3" catback and
its on my N/A KA and its fine, no loss in torque, but it is loud, oh well not for long

LOUD as shiet and i love it. can humm around at 3 grand to keep it quite and when u want really loud just stomp the pedal and get mean throaty sound with NO honda buzz.
basically i give it thumbs up!
SOUNDS REALLLLLY Mean. I GET ALL the honda guys reving at me..still smoke them .

i got a 3 inch exhaust with a 3 inch test pipe, as long as you keep stock headers and that stock downpipe thing, its not very loud it sounds good with no rasp at all, well at least mine doesnt i dont know what others ppls. sound like

If your staying NA it doesn't HAVE to be that big, from what I understand 2.75 on a 4 cyl. will make for a nice balance between low and high end, unless your all about top end power and the sound of a 3 inch exhaust od course.

CONS to 3" Exhaust: LOUD as HELL, sometimes annoying.
It won't produce that much difference in HP or torque to a 2.5".
If you want a quiet 3" you have to add more crap that decreases HP, like resonators.
May not pass a visual inspection or dB test in your state.
Cops love righting tickets.
Pros to 3" Exhaust: pulls good HP numbers in the higher RPM's
Helps relieve back pressure (back pressure is a bad thing) pressure is defined as a form of resistance.
Cons to 2.5" exhaust: might be iffy to a cop to get a ticket.
PRO's to 2.5" exhaust you can run pipe without sound and performance deadening resonators to increase maximum flow.
Not as loud as 3".
Performs well under midrange RPMS.

Isnt there supposed to be a lil backpressure for scavenging or something?
---anyways, im running a 2.5" pacesetter monza. It sounds good from low to mid RPM ranges, but gets a tad raspy at WOT. maybe i have to tighten my clamps a bit? anyways, very good low RPM torque and improved high RPM power. Not much of a con here... except when it comes to installing the beast.. well if you use brand new OEM style rubber hangers at least. have a friend help with that.
