anyone done 3angle/5angle valve job?

anyone done a three angle or 5 angle valve job.. If so any complications with the shims? i had a 3 angle done and now i need an impossible shim.. i need one 1.6mm smallest nissan makes is 1.96 .. whence on the phone with nissan i told the guy i need shims he said you need to go bigger i said no.. smaller he said.. did you do a valve job.. i say yes.. he say .. grind down the end of the valve stem.. ... i just want to grind down the shims.. feel safer that way.. easier to replace.. easier to find.. btw.. my cost on shims from nissan is like 8.62.. that sucks..

when doing the valve job did you install new seats and valves???the guy at nissan is right about grinding down the valve tip... it will be the only way to get the clearance that you need... it sounds like you either took too much material off of the valve or the seat when getting the valve job done... the ka24de came with a 3 angle valve job to begin with... the other option is to install new valve seats into the head and put in new vaves all the way around... it is easier to grind down the tip of the valve than it is to grind down the shims... smaller surface and easier to keep flat... but that is just my ideas...

so basically it was a waist of money and im a jag arse for getting a valve job done..?

no i m not saying that at all... im saying the machine shop did not do it all correct or you put in the old valves and seats...

if you or the shop installed new valves and seats then the machine shop took out too much material in the grinding process...if old ones were used the valves and seats were out of spec and they ground them anyway... now you are stuckwith finding something that is not made or you are having to grind down the valve to get it right...

just because a machine shop does the work it does not mean that it is right... there are good shops and there are bad shops... i would take the head back to them and have them fix it... all of the clearances should have been checked befor the first pass was ever made on the head...

i had a 3 angle valve job done on my head so i dont thing you are anything but smart for doing it - having it done... i just dont think it was done right or used parts were put back in the head...
