Awful ticking noise :(

Car is a 1990 S13..N/A

243,000KMS, runs great and pulls hard and looks amazing..
But.. Just recently it started with an awful ticking noise coming from the engine.. It doesnt come on if the car is running and in park but when i put it into gear... It starts.

Really annoying anyone know what this might be?

thats weird, but I know alot of times when you hear ticking coming from the engine, its the timing chain/ chain guides

Could be the case since ur car has pretty high mileage.

From what ive been able to gather from researching this site, sounds like something to do with my timing chain/chain guides like you say.

How much to replace?
Ballpark?
