best upgrade for a stock ka24de goin N/A

i have a 1995 240sx se and was wonderin on what to do first. and what u feel the most torque and hp from for a first mod like headers and full exaust. if u can give some insight that would be great.

i think a cai is a good fist mod. with a header or anything with the exaust you'll probaly lose some low end torque. here's a link were you can see something that can be done fairly cheap but will give good results.http://www.**********/links/installs/...take/index.htm

also do a search on this forum and you can find some "free" mods

what he said and if you plan to stay n/a the only way id see making any more power is a lot of head work. besides high compression and fuel managment, itbs, stuff like that. kas dont really have any n/a potention from what ive read unless head work is done. i dunno read up on big vinnies threads

ok thanx alot.

Get an AEM short ram, and try to get an Apex'i filter, they are supposedly the best you can get in terms of both filtration and hp gains... it was in a thread here where they tested a few different filters... anyways... and get a 4-2-1 header. Catbacks are alright....

jramosthe1st! 12-30-2006 02:10 PM

here's the link to the test
http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/fil...t/2/index.html
hp gains were about the same so they're all even there. the test results show that Apexi protects the best and that k&n came in 2nd. the prices are soposedly the same also but i havent found a new Apex filter for under $80.
i'm not saying that there isn't one, i just haven't found it. what i did find was a k&n for $34.50 shipped.

if you can find an apexi filter cheap get it if not get the k&n. although i don't recomend that you reoil the k&n just clean it with compressed air every time you change your oil or so.

Most torque and HP improvement on OBD2 with mostly bone stock everything is with header/highflow CAT/modified 2.5 or 3" exhaust system.

I've done all the typical mods with my KA, but the largest kick in the pants was felt after installing an underdrive pulley, and MSD coil.

TB bypass helps, atleast i felt a significant differnce throught out the entire rpm range in every gear. also putting a breather filter on your valve cover helps reduce the "truck" feel to the KAs. just knock out the BPUs first and go from there. I/H/E, better plugs and wires/coil, electric fan and water pump, etc.... next, cams, cam gears, pulleys, bigger TB, bigger intake mani.... the skies the limit, however for now you main focus should be getting more air to the engine. just I/H/E should make for noticable gains.:thumb:

dont worry about losing torque with an exhaust, it just doesnt happen.

3" is good, and has been dyno'd to make only 2-4 ft/lbs less than a 2.5"

but the 3" makes more peak hp.

LA_phantom_240 01-24-2007 03:52 PM

Littledevil, Its www.maxbore.com .. and 3" exhausts are (usually) noisier than 2.5's are. Some are really quiet though

LITTLEDEVIL S13 02-12-2007 05:43 PM

Well i was wondering i have heard the custom short ram intakes produced any good numbers on a dyno... The intakes i am talkin about are the ones that the filter takes place of where the battery currently is.. and maybe even route the intake tube to behind the front bumber to pick up cooler air and so the intake won't be above the radiator warming up the intake charge....?? I've thought about doing this mod on my own car but i haven;t have the time to get a battery relocation kit and i haven't wanted to cut and spice the maf sensor wiring... let me know if any of you guys have tried this mod..... lol even if you only have a "butt dyno" thanks

ive seen it done. if i ever decide to waste money on an intake itll be in place of the battery.
heres an example, i love this dudes bay. image how clean it would be with itbs and like super long velocity stacks. id worship it.
