buying 240sx soon....but

im looking to buy a 95 250sx manual very soon, however most of the cars have around 100,000 miles on it. My question is what kind of a tune up should I give it beside the basics.

...a swap

Chiefgmsr 06-29-2005 09:10 PM

yea do the basics but check ur susp. Might wanna change waterpump, u never know wen it was changed. If it were beaten tie rodsand ends might be ready for a change. Tein are good replacements. 100,000 miles isnt that bad. Goodluck!!!

When i got my 95 it had 110k miles. I had to clean the throttle body because it stuck real badly when you pushed the pedal in. I had to get the front oil pan seal replaced because it leaked. Other than that ive just cleaned out the air box and air filter and other things like that. When i first got mine it shifted really hard (auto :\) but now that ive driven it allot it shifts better but still hard. I guess that’s just how the 240 auto tranny is. Tension and tie rods are something to look at too. I also cleaned the yellow off my headlights with some metal wheel polish.

My bro's auto 240sx doesn't shift hard, and it's a 96. But his only has about 65-70k miles.

might as well hit the timing chain + water pump.
After that check the suspension.
Break pads?

is the timing chain neccesary?

not really, but if it starts making funny rattling noises, refer to l2aine's timing chain guide removal step-by-step guide. Search it on the forum, it's around here somewhere.
