calling all kade specialist

ok so i just rebuilt my motor( crank, crank bearing rod bearings and rings) and everything is back together and the mother ****er wont turn over. when it was on the stand everything turned fine but when we were putting on the flywheel and clutch i noticed that it was a little difficult but nothing crazy so i didnt think anything about it. but now it wont move at all and i check to see if the drive shaft would spin and it does so i dont think it is the transmission and i dont know what the **** to think right now. so any help would be greatly appreciated.

you did use assembly lube right?

tehott240 03-25-2008 05:45 AM

yeah i used it on the rods and main bearing and i lubed the cylinders with oil. thats why i cant figure out what happened.

I would PM BigVinnie, he's an NA KA guru. Him or Donnie (AKA Biggamehit) I trust them the most on this site. There are others I trust, but those two guys are always the first names to pop up in my head when it comes to KA issues.

so i doesn't turn in either direction at all? as you turn the crank there are times when it turns easily and takes more effort at other times. this is of course because the cams are forcing the valve springs down. it may sound like a stupid question but are you sure that this isn't the case?

also are you sure the timing is right on,assuming that the crank will turn but only to a point and then stop i would be lead to believe that a valve would be hit the piston.

hmm, no machine work might be the problem?

BigVinnie 03-26-2008 07:25 AM

check your distributor/CAS if you are having a problem turning over. If it isn't an electrical issue tear it down.

Nice, I need to meet up with you soon about the intake mani.

Off topic, Vince, can an S13 harness for an Apexi AFC2 be modified to work on an S14 ecu?

sorry me and my family went camping over my spring break and couldnt get to a computer but anyways the motor wont turn at all easily or hard it just wont turn at all and jared explain to me why the motor would turn when it was on the stand and i could understand get machine work done if my walls looked like yours and ill check the dizzy out and see if that is the problem. another thing we checked was the starter to make shure that it was in right and evry thing was hooked up properly and it was so i gues thats all that left to check.

if it will not turn don't force it, because it could be that the valves are hitting the piston and if you force it to turn you will bend valves.

MS!3 04-01-2008 12:52 PM

ya, everyone, use assembly lube, not oil, and don't listen to guys from advanced auto parts. lol

i think its been figured out.

motegineon 04-01-2008 01:31 PM

i heard u went oversized rings or something and didnt have the cylinder walls honed?

is this true? if so then that would def be a problem..
