Cold-Air Intake Duct

Well, i got an auto. I auto shift and pretend i got a 4sd: 1st - 2nd - drive - OverDrive... O i let out on the gas right before it shifts to make it sound like a m.t.

i also made a ram air system on my 95..i took off the 2 pipes comeing out of the side of the filter box(the y pipe and the 90)cut a hole for a 3 inch 90 to go there instead..ran a 3 inch pipe down to a tee..the tee is not a straight tee but the kind where the tee part looks like a 90..in the back of the tee drill a little hole for water to escape..and pipe is right beside my fog light and is fairly hiden but able to get all the air it needs..ill draw out a diagram or take some pics or something for better understanding..
result=u know how the ka stops makeing usable power right before 5k.. not no more..with a K&N air filter, ghetto ram air and a 300zx fuel filter all in the same day i can tell a diffence for sure..it takes very little pedal to stay at 80 mph..i can shift at redline now
was going to post but wanted to make sure there were no side effects first
pipeing is 3" pvc from hardware store and does not move.

heres a rough diagram(dunno when i could get pics up)

i still have to do some painiting on it so it dont look too ghetto..i did paint the pipe by the fog light cause ofcourse you could see it..the 90 is still white and i ran out of time so installed it
i cut the hole in the air box right in the middle of the other two holes and used the sleeves from those holes to screw the 3" 90 to it..alittle chalking and its air tight..to bad i didnt have black chalking..dunno if they make it..hopefully paint will stick..i didnt care about looks at the time cause the whole things comeing out soon for turbo time(still peiceing together)
you will have to cut the metal bigger for pipe to exit the bottom(where your flex hose comes thru in your pic). im sure anyone could use their imagination and make it look better then i did.
come across this idea while doing a 300zx fuel filter and a cut air box but said to myself (after haveing a short air intake on a honda)."sure you are get more air but it will be hot air" so decided to make this instead
one last thing..when u cut the hole in the air box, cut alittle at a time to make sure its tight and u dont have problems sealing it..i had to do some chalk welding to the other holes since i cut right between them..but its the only way for pipe to come out of the hole that is already there

i choose a K&N filter to go in stock place..dunno if u wanna put a cone filter on end of pipe but if you are..think of the water that will hit that filter just by driveing behind s/1 after a rain..a wet filter is hard to breath thru..that was my main worry with something like that or with what i did...which is why i did it the way i did..ur stock air box has a hole for water to come out bottom and then i put 2 little holes in the back of my tee(this is also why i put a tee at bottom and not a 90)..the holes + presure in tee should blow out water fairly good

Check This Out go to the bottom
Wrong. It loses power at 5.5k/ I have the dyno to prove it. Anyways, the air turbulence is with cone filters, not box filters. Why do you think ARC's Indictuion box is a box, lol.
and that fiberglass fitting that guy did is nice
Terry is the fiberglass master - Period!
anyway, a update on the ram air..i removed the driver side fog light and put a 10x4x4 square to round in its place..the 10x4 square covers all but a 1" section of that area..had to do alittle shapeing and cutting to make it fit and look good but that should more then triple the air going in the box..didnt get a chance to test it cause it got late and i was tired..i also installed a fitting so i can hook up a vacuum gauge and see at diffrent speeds if or when i start getting a positive presure in the box(after the filter)..i figure a pound or 2 cant hurt..if all works good i will be putting a new exhaust on as well..heard the oem exhaust is not breather friendly, and if i put more air in more air needs to come out to get the full effect
ps:total cost to buy these part(the tee,90,pipe,square-to-round,all can be found at lowe's or a home improvement store) is about $20-$30..total i have in it cause i some already laying around..$7 may post some pics in the next few days.
