I think I should rephrase:

It is my personal opinion, based on what I've seen and evidence collected from what friends and fellow drifters (emphasis on the fact that this is on a drifting vehicle) that the KA24DE, in stock configuration, is an inferior motor for the sport in terms of reliability. What the aftermarket has in store lays no bearing on my argument as I am not talking about a modified engine, I'm referring to it as it comes from the factory. It's my belief that an SR20DET, stock for stock, is a more reliable engine than a KA when involved in motorsport.

Can the KA be made better than an SR20, hell yeah, I've seen it. Can it be made to perform reliably, yep and yep, I've seen that too. Is it worth the money to invest in a KA . . .I don't know. I got quoted at a shop for 9 grand to build a 400hp reliable KA. Where as for a few grand more, I can be well nestled in a comparable HP (and higher torque) RB or even an LS1/2.

That's all well and good, I'm a martial artist too, so just keep in mind if I do allow you to get close enough to be a danger, I'll find a way out of it enough to get to my backup weapon.

A S&W Extreme Ops Tactical Knife . . .

Dude that point is still moot.

All these drifters with there old a$$ ka 200,000 mile engines are bound to blow rings and bearings, and even blow rods. Gaskets leak they lose oil, causes starvation equals bent rods, valves, or thrashed bearings and rings. That is just common sense.

Most JDM swapped sr20's are under 80,000miles. Have about another 50,000 on the motor for heavy abuse. To say the least I have had friends that swapped the sr thought it was indestructible and blew the head off with its weak style rockers.

After market support for the KA is cheaper than the sr hands down and modification is for simple people into old lseries mods. Although aftermarket support for the sr is much more abundant.

SR block is lighter than the ka thats it in a nut shell.

If someone is charging you 9 grand to build a 400hp KA24det you are the most gullible son of a biotch out there.
It shouldn't cost more than $4000 for a rebuilt with all the after market turbo parts using a 660cc injectors, and a t3/04e turbo and manifold setup, using the stock 240/248cams that already come in the 1991-94 KA's.

That sucks . . .those KA's just aren't meant for it as they sit . .it's just not an engine designed for performance from the factory. Get some aftermarket bits, and it'll be a KILLER motor, or just swap for something else, that's what one of my teammates is doing

But yeah bro, that'd be NUTS, start a build thread, I'll subscribe to it. Don't think about the build, just do it . . it'll be fun. HAHA!

**** a KA just put in a twin turbo supercharged ls7 in your 240 all you need to do is mash the gas and counter steer at 300mph and u would win all events

Holy ****. Chill with the ka bashing. Spend the money you buy a sr or rb with on a ka and see how much it sucks.
