Head Problem
 
Okay so i have a 93 240 and a KADE i need help on what to do...im hearing a really bad knock noise comin from the head and i think it could just be timing wud it be worth it to take apart the head and replace whatever is broke but i need it to be running ASAP......I have another block in my room that im rebuilding but what shud i do take the head off and see what it is or how do i check my timing on it???

i think you should take the head off, check it out, burn the midnight oil and rebuild it in your room if needed since you need it running ASAP, and replace the head gasket while your at it.

Well, it could be bad, and it could be not so bad.

Is it a knocking noise, or does it sound like a marble in a tin can?

If it's a marble in a tin can sound, head to ******** forums (don't know if there's a writeup here, but why do the work twice?) and hit the search button, and look for posts by vancouverbc . one of the top 5 hits should be titled 'Tutorials'. hit that, and search the page for timing . There should be a link there called 'Timing Chain Rattle'. It's a fairly easy and straight forward process.

If you can't fix the tensioner with WD-40, courtesyparts.com has them. got mine for $66 shipped.

Naw its not the timing chain thats fine and dandy this sounds like....hhhmmmmm.....like if u roll ur tongue and make a car noise or something......

without actually hearing it all we can do is guess. dose it do it all the time and is it louder and more frequent as the revolutions go up?
