help - key stuck in igition switch
hi,
the key to my '93 240sx convertible auto (5spd swap in progress) is stuck in the ignition switch (and yes, I tried pushing the button)... it came out once real easily but now it's stuck again and won't release no matter how I jiggle it or the wheel. any ideas? could this be an electrical problem or is it the switch itself? thanks, Ben |
Try removing the casing covering the key ignition. There is a latch you can push against inside that should allow you to press the release button in further in efforts to remove the key. Found this handing trick in the owner's manual...Hope it works out!

It happened to me once. However, I replace the ignition switch, it is ok right now! Maybe, is the switch (looks like a big wire)!

if its an auto move the shifter back and forth without removeing it from park untill it clicks , then try removeing the key
|
Yeah,
Mine does the same thing all the time... So much, that now I am in the habit of hitting the Automatic Shifter forward, before ever even reaching for the key. Kicked my butt for a while too... |
i would say the neutral safety switch was not bypassed correctly when doing the swap... on auto transmission equipped cars you cant remove the car without the transmission in park... if you have not bypassed the switch right you wont be able to remove the key... give all of your electrical connections real close to make sure nothing came apart or is loose...

did you unplug or take out the tranny with it in park?
|
my auto does the same... i have to push it forward into park before takign the key out... i m getting used to it... is urs a s13 or s14 auto
