help please

ive got a 91 240 and when im going down the road it starts to hesitate then it progresses to not reving past 2500 and when i go to stop it wont idle and stalls if i dont keep the revs up. i have not a clue whats going on. when i shut off the car and start it back up most of the time it runs fine for a while. so any help would be great

unplug you mafs then plug it back in and make sure its plugged up all the way and if is still does it then look and see if the top is bent badly and if any wires are showing. mine was doing the same thing and it was because when i was shutting my hood it was knocking the plug for my mafs out of place.

it will run in a "safe mode" (the safe mode is not letting rev over 2,500rpm's.) just take it off, smack the maf a couple of times and then plug it back in. if it still doesnt work try reflashing your ecu.(just unplug the battery for a couple of min.) try that and let me know what happens....good luck!

if it still doesnt rev over 2500rpm's then you might need a new mafs. if you have a buddy with a 91-94 ask if you can switch just to see what happens. usually what your explaining has somthing to do with the mafs. were is it idleing at now?
