I Stepped On It Today

Hey i was driving may car today ( bone stock, except for full cat-back exuast ) and for the first time ever, i floored it once in 2nd. gear, and third and i was so so dissapointed.

Well i was just wondering if anyone had any helpful tips on anything i could get for my car to make it have better acceleration, and low-end torque. Ialready plan on getting a header and intake, but what can i get to make my car "get up and go"?

thanx in advance

Turbo, lol

There really isnt anything you can really do that isnt overly expensive. Pulley wont do much, intake and headers will help.

(SP?)=Spelling?

msd ignition will help along with headers and intake. you can also adjust you throttle cable (tighten) this will help with throttle responce. hope this helps

like the google pimp pointed out a GOOD tune-up will do wonders example: a new set of plugs and wires(they don't have to be nology) new oil plus filter, fuel filter, chit while your at it coolent flush the damn thang. then jack her on up and change out your tranny oil(bloody stinky mess) and inspect the drain plug magnet for metal shavings. then put in some good oil like mobil 1 or if you can find royal purple put that in. congrats on a fastback dood i wish i had a fastback!

I read the thread title and thought you were "walking in a park one day behind some dogs, and..."

:dunno: :D

Back to serious - yes, I agree totally with the tuneup. It'll do wonders on high-mileage engines, but don't expect to all of a sudden out-accelerate VR6's or something.

For that, you need the "boost" type wonder.

I have a 91 fastback as well, with just a cat back exhaust, and besides the fact that my clutch blows goats, its fast enough to suprise me now and then... 2nd and 3rd gear especially. I cant smoke the tires or launch hard because of the clutch, but once I'm moving, boy its fast.

go with the tuneup, intake and maybe some porting and cleaning up the head and intake plenum. uhhhh cams are cool too, but good luck finding low to mid power ones, as everyone wants peaky race engines these days. and change your oil regularly, it'll do wonders.
