installed intake and now...

hey i just finished installing an ebay intake with the filter it comes with... and it idles rought when i start it... like it will almost stall but then it wont and sometimes it will just stall... i have to turn the key and turn it on and then keep the engine reved for like 20 seconds... and i got my check engine light on after as well and when i read the code with the obd II reader... it says p0505 which says idle system malfunction or something like that ... and i know its because i installed the intake... i dunno i cant really seem to figure it out... you think i might just need to change my idle after installing the intake or what... by the way its a 1996 ka24de

this might sound dumb but you did install the mafs again right??? if so make sure that it is pluged in and that all of the clamps are tight... and also check to see if you disconnected any of the vaccum lines under the throttle body while doing the install or removal of the intake...

try unplugging the battery for a minute and then plugging it back in and starting the car up.

i know exactly what your problem is. i had the same thing happen to mine when i installed the MAF adapter plate and cone filter. what happens is when the adapter is installed onto the MAF, it does not make a complete seal around the opening. therefore air leaks in and causes the ECU to throw codes. the engine runs rich and dies, because it thinks its getting too much air.

just make sure the adapter plate is seated WELL. i decided to go the safe route and wrapped the adapter plate with electrical tape and now, ive had absolutely no problems. try it out for yourself and see what happens.

yeah that is probably the problem because on of my screw is loose... you sure thats it? i think the silicon coupling that attaches to the throttle body is a lil bit loose and it might be leaking some air there... you think thats it?

yes! maf issues are the #1 cause of intake issues. Especially things like bogging, hard to start, and rough idle.

Use gasket maker get the red stuff it's the best.
Gasket maker is nothing more than ATV high temp silicon, it does the job better than factory seals and gaskets in my opinion.
Make shure that your silicon bead is 1/8", losely tighten. After a half hour tighten the crap out of the screws.
It makes a super high temp seal....

You could connect it or add a breather filter.
