Intake hoses

Okay, so we all know that four hoses connect to the stock intake. In this picture he was two connected, and two with breather filters.

If you want, we'll refer to the ones still connected as 1 and 2. The one going into the head is 3 and the one to the fair right is 4.

Can someone please tell me what these do? I read something about "AIC" but i have no idea what that is.

Im not sure what the one on the valve cover does, but the AIC (The filter on the right) is for smog purposes...

so, if i were to put a SRI on there, and cap that off (would I have to cap it, or does it attach[w/ aem SRI]?) would it be able to pass smog with a breather filter?

I'm guessing the one going into the valve cover is for some type of vacuum purposes, but i want a definate, detailed answer.

Valve cover one is the breather for the valve cover. you can run a small filter like that if you are HOndaspec super mod status (lame) but you're better off putting a catch can on it instead.

google it... I just bought a Greddy (newer style) ARC makes ones that are very expensive... I've also heard of a DSM owner that made one from a pickle jar IMO either Greddy is your best bet. You'll need it if you go turbo too, i had to get one because i was sucking oil out of the valve cover at vaccuum

Greddy = $$$ Just get a knock off on ebay for like $30. And you don't NEED one if you go turbo; may be if your motors spewin lots of oil cause it's got tons of blow by or you're real **** about a little oil in the intake...

the aic valves isnt for smoke.. it is your air intake controller.. this and the IAC / idle air controller keep you car from doing what mine is doing .. which is redlining as soon as it starts..
