kade pistons swap

what the difference bewteen 89/90 e pistons ??are 248x2 safe cam setup using these pistons??and can i use de rings on e pistons??

MS!3 04-16-2008 10:05 AM

Comp ratio is different. Yes they will work with dual248s. Im not sure about the rings tho. thatll be self explanatory tho when you get them side to side. .

This isnt a bolt on project tho. Invloves tuning.

BigVinnie should chime in, and explain more in detail.

anyone?

240-kid 04-18-2008 11:54 PM

89 = 9.1 C/R 90 = 8.6 C/R

9.1 C/R KAE Pistons on the DE will give you a Final 11.6 C/R.

Doing some Research It seems that The Valve Reliefs Do Not Align so Using Aftermarket Cams w/ SOHC Pistons should not be done

sav180 04-22-2008 11:42 AM

yo has anyone thought of using after market e pistons like from cp ??will it bump the c/r up jus like the stock ones?

240-kid 04-22-2008 07:24 PM

well I mean if the C/R is different, the final in the DE will also, ie 10.0:1 C/R SOHC will be like 12.5:1 in an DE. Highest I've seen for an DE is 11.0:1

sav180 04-23-2008 06:02 PM

me to thats je pistons.. i was just askin cuz i dont wanna bore out the motor..cp sohc were 9:0:1 so that sounded perfect

sav180 05-01-2008 08:26 PM

what u guys think

240-kid 05-01-2008 09:59 PM

I dont quite understand what you said in the last part of your last post????

BigVinnie 05-02-2008 06:36 PM

You can't use high lift and duration cams with the 89 pistons. You will be limited to 240/248 cams and be making minimum clearance between the valve and piston. I would say get the 90pistons and be happy with a 10.7:1CR.
Either that or have a head shop shrink the quench chamber for you.
If your not going to ecu tune you will at least need an SAFC

sav180 05-04-2008 04:42 PM

sweet...tankx vin

240-kid 05-05-2008 12:46 AM

Hey vin, w/ the 90 Pistons, do you know how much clearance there is?
would a 248/248 Exh cam combo work?
What about the Nismo 248/256 10.7mm lift?

sav180 05-06-2008 07:40 PM

if that does clear then bc 264/264 Duration
9.52mm/9.52mm Lift should no problem at all or no????drop some knowledge upon us vin

sav180 05-06-2008 07:43 PM

im tryin 2 avoid havin to bore my block out to save time and money wit this cam selection...what are the "++'s" to havin your block bored out?

Well not exactly, thought it may have less lift, the valve will be open much longer thus the valve being more open longer
