Knock Sensor

So I put a new knock sensor on and it's still throing a code . Anyone know how to check the circuit or should i just go ahead an run new wires ?

jramosthe1st! 07-08-2009 07:40 PM

what engine and what's the code?

Sevarg710X 07-09-2009 01:52 PM

Ka24de code 34 knock sensor/ k.s. circuit

check the wiring right at the base of the connector

it's not uncommon that the knock sensor is bad, even if it's new. you'll need i ohm meter and believe the sensor should have a reading of 10 ohms. i can't say for sure if that's the actual valve so double check that. also, did you clear the codes or just replace the sensor?

biggamehit : the connector where it meets the k.s. or where it bolts to the timing cover ?

jramosthe1st : I'll check it ..... ohms should be 550 btw . cleared the codes after i replaced sensor , test drove , it bogged and code was back .

^^yes...

Also do me a big big big favor.... pull all of your injector clips while the car is running and diagnose it. I say this because what would happen to me is one of my injectors would kick on and off. My Knock Sensor happen to be bad as a result. I replace that but still got the bogging and knock sensor code.

your car could be going into limp mode to protect itself. the easier way is just swap your entire rail for a known working set.

Checked sensor and it's good . Wiring looks good , but only checked where it plugs by the timing cover . Will do injector test tomorrow . Probably gonna just re run the wire from the ecu to the k.s and see if that does the trick .

jramosthe1st! 07-13-2009 10:04 PM

does it bog at any given point consistently, or just at random?

Biggamehit 07-13-2009 11:16 PM

you need to check the connection that plugs into the knock sensor... peal back the protective tape and look at it.

Sevarg710X 07-14-2009 02:45 PM

It bogs any time i give it any more than just slight throttle .

So check the little mini harness that goes from k.s. to timing cover ?

Biggamehit 07-15-2009 12:35 AM

from the k.s

also bro if you have not.. try 4 working injectors... you will be surprised.

EBE23 07-16-2009 01:58 PM

check the ohm readings on the injectors, sounds like one or more is bad cause I had similiar problems as well. when one starts to go back or is bad, the others have to compensate for the bad one then the other injectors will start to go. check the ohm reading and make sure they're all consistant with one another, not sure what the range is supposed to be.

Sevarg710X 07-16-2009 08:22 PM

Haven't got to check the k.s harness yet , been raining here . click tested the injectors and they're all clicking . Would injector throw k.s. code though ?

Biggamehit 07-17-2009 12:30 PM

a failing injector would cause the engine to knock. when the injectors go, they go in and out. so it could be fine and then boom...... So locate some injectors that are working and swap them in.
