Unhappy Knocking Noise... Please HELP

Hey Guys,

I have a 91 automatic Le ..... Planning gettin a new engine and converting it to manual but i need to save up some money .... For the past few days there has been a knocking sound coming from the engine ... i know its not the tranny .... i think it could be the valve chain tensioner but im not sure ... when im driving normal it knocks very lightly ..when i get on it it makes no noise ... and when it shifts it makes a loud knocking noise until it engages into the next gear... from first to second its the loudest .... i was checkin it out today ... it sounds like it could be the valve chain tensioner but im not sure .. i just hope its not the valves or pistons ..... Thanks guys and let me know what u think...

did it spin the bearing? if not you can replace the bearings. you can get then at nissan or autozone and also get some plastigage,
it will help u check to see if you spun you bearing.
