Mechanical Fan

Anyone know how to remove the Mechanical fan on the ka24e and do I need to replace it with an electric fan or will it be fine without it?

its real simple their should be like 4 blots on the front which go into the fan its self then their are 4 nuts behinde that and there you go cluch fan is gone

You're probably going to need some sort of fan there if you remove the stock mechanical one, or temps will rise quick... BTW there isn't really much you gain from removing the stocker anyways - unless your engine is super built :D

I disagree. If your engine is super built then the clutch fan doesn't make much difference(on or off)
***You do need some kind of fan...or you get problems.
but when you engine is underpowered putting an electric fan makes a bigger difference in power. If my engine had 200+hp then i would have left the clutch fan on.

What I meant was in terms of how you try to squeeze out every last drop of HP on an engine... thus the reason for people getting pulley kits or removing the a/c or even the alternator (parasitic drag)... removing the mechanical fan and replacing it with an electrical fan on a mildly tuned engine does make some sort of difference, but I'd think that for the same money you could keep the mechanical fan on and buy something else that would boost power more than a fan change :)

so you're running a KA with no fan whatsoever?

did you replace the rad?

and is it worth it to do so?

im in the 200+HP N/a race :)

jeffgivens 05-27-2004 07:18 PM

what is the rad ?

4984 5fsdskfvjdsntr4 05-27-2004 08:02 PM

rad = radiator
it probably depends on the temp in your area. I live in miami so it's always hot!
check out my install:

it might not be the best but the relay might come in handy.

i took the mech fan off of my 92 KA. If you have the AC fan on the radiator, you can rewire it to run on the fuel pump fuse. it isnt a large fan, but i dont have any overheating issues.
if you need more info let me know,
