My future toy struggles to start, please help!

Ok you guys. This is my new toy (1990 Nissan Fastback) given to me by my cousin. But I can't move it out of the driveway since it's having a hard time starting up. I am assuming that the car needs a new starter and you'll see why on the video. The car hasn't been turned on or moved for about a year or more now hence the flat tire, the leaves and spider webs on the car. Anyway I had my little brother record the car while I try to start up the car. You'll here a clicking sound after I had the car cranking up. The clicking sound starts when I try starting the car. It goes away after a few times of trying to start the car but comes back.

http://www.youtube.com/watch.php?v=Ca4m-vvW86g

Hopefully somebody can pin point exactly what's causing the car not to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Ouch!

I like how the little leaf is dangling by a spider web on the left side of the hood. Looked kind of funny.

What happens if you hit the starter? I'm a noob to cars so. . .

well if a starter wont turn over and you tap it with a heavy stick or somethin like that (hammer) it will usually let the field windings inside rotate just a little so that the broken coil isnt in the same spot, adn it allows it to work.... but usually when they are clicking it is becasue there isnt enough power such as a bad battery or bad power wire, or even a bad ground connection as it is falling out or somethin......

check your battery. It's been sitting for a year so it might've drained out

ok i'm back in so cal trying to get the car to start so far I have replaced these following parts with new.

- starter
- battery
- spark plug
- spark plug wires
- even put new gas

The car still not starting and it looks like the fuel pump has stoped working since i'm not getting any fuel at all. Tomorrow I'll be buying a fuel pump and the car should be good to go. I'll check back tomorrow or the next.

Wish me luck,
jEff

the fuel pump is hella easy to replace but costs about 100. are you sure it's the fuel pump and not the fuel pump relay? i would hate to see you throw away 100 when it could be fixed for less then 10

I got the car running this morning. I went ahead and replaced the fuel pump and the car still didn't start so I checked the fuel pump fuse and it appeared to be a bad fuse. So I went ahead and put a new 10A fuse and the pump was working and finally got the car running.

Since I got it running, I might have another problem. There is some weird sound coming from the inside of the tranny. This type of sound I hear is similiar to when you're at a complete stop and you forget you're in a higher gear and you hear some weird clunking sound when you try to take off.. I have a video of it uploading right now. I will post the link when it's done uploading. And yes I'm getting all my tires replaced. I just wanted to test run the car.
