Need help asap!!

I just finished putting in a ka24de in my 90 240sx now it wont start. At first it was just clicking i replaced the starter now its trying to turn over but just wont kick in. I heard that if the cluster isnt wired in it wont work. is that true?

I have fuel havent checked for spark yet im about to do that now..but is there anything else is might be?:banghead:

ok just checked spark and there is none. Whats the most common problem for this? What do i check first?

...Its ironic i was going to school in a week to learn how to do all this...

240gonewild 12-02-2007 07:12 PM

Anybody anything?

ryguy 12-02-2007 08:48 PM

Did you wire it all up right? What wiring guide did you use? And did you swap ECUs?

battosaii930 12-02-2007 09:14 PM

clicking is a classic sign of not enough battery power, try charging the battery or jumping it

ryguy 12-02-2007 10:22 PM

Yeah Battosai is right, I think thats your problem too.

also make sure everything is plugged in and check your grounds.. I wasnt getting spark on my initial start up because the ecu pigtail was only handtight.

I checked everything its all wired up right i replaced the starter and now it tries to turn over. im just not getting spark. I have a test like thing i bought from autozone and im getting power to starter and alt but not the ignition coil. i swapped the ecu and i put in the ka24de ecu. The only thing i didnt do was the grounds i only got the battery ground...mainly because the local nissan dealer told me i didnt need those to start it up. Theres no more clicking it just wont kick over. The engine was running fine before i took it out and changed them...i mean the firing order is on the distributor cap i took out a plug and wire and tried turning it over with the plug next to the intake manifold and got nothing.

check plugs and wires, possibly replace these.

dkdeleon 12-03-2007 02:07 PM

check your grounds again and check the wiring harness around the fan and radiator area for cuts or breaks in the wiring. If you not getting power to the coil it is usually (not all the time) a ground problem.

240gonewild 12-03-2007 08:09 PM

Does the dash harness for the gauge cluster need to be wired in for this to start?

ryguy 12-03-2007 08:51 PM

No, at least i know my car ran with the cluster completely out.

240gonewild 12-03-2007 08:58 PM

Ok that wasnt the problem. Maybe its timing? Im not sure this is the first motor swap i have done so im kinda lost as to what to do next

ryguy 12-03-2007 10:01 PM

if it was timing you would still have spark at some point, wouldnt you?

MS!3 12-04-2007 06:48 AM

try to clean your grounds. One behind the head, one on the ignition coil, one under the fuse box and another on the left strut tower.

tehott240 12-04-2007 06:55 AM

I had the same problem and it was my grounds, so i would check them. Clean the surface of and remount them.
