Oil Leak?
I am about to buy a 91 240sx with 156k no dents minor dings, small surface rust on fenders and an oil leak on the front of the engine. My question is (because I dont have the car and dont know these motors yet) where would the oil leak be coming from? Guy said it was on the front of the engine. My buddy said the valve cover or timing cover. Could someone show me some pictures of the front of the engine and top of the engine. Thanks
P.S. Waiting for pictures from the GUY. Also dont know how bad the leak is either. P.S.S. Could someone give me all places that might have oil leaks. Thanks. Or are known for them. Thanks again. -ROOK |
front main seal, rear main seal, valve cover...maybe, timing chain front cover. any other places that oil travels to.

Thanks. I have decided to buy Summits Fel-Pro head set and engine set to totally rebuild the motor. Now that I see it could be a few spots I might as well. Thanks much though.
|
just make sure to replace both main seals, while the motor is out. leaks from there or not. old motor it needs to be done.

I have to take the motor out to do the main seals front and rear?
I am buying these two kits Conversion Set http://store.summitracing.com/partde...art=FEL-CS9646 Head Set http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=FEL-HS9646PT Or this, which do you recommend? Part # CGSD31 Complete Kit http://www.importperformanceparts.ne...s-nissan2.html |
The Front Main/Rear Main seal is were alot of higher mileage engines leak from. they are kinda a pain in the ass to change considering you have ro remove alot of components to get to them.
If possible I would just change any gaskets that are prone to wear and tear which would contribute to an oil leak down the line. |
Okay thanks for the heads up. Looks like it'll be a little while before I actually drive it then. Ah well. Maybe I can get him to lower the price.
|
better to just take it out and change them, makes everything easier.
|
jordan, me and you will have to do that to mine before i turbo, so get your ass up here. haha. headgasket too. imma go with ka-t, because its cheaper, and i dont really need crazy horsepower.

W3rd sounds cool. lol

I just had that problem with my car. It was a cheap $300 fix. Works great now.
