overheating?
 
just finished swapping the ka24de into my 90 240 now its overheating..It slowly rises when i idle takes about 20 mins to atleast hit the C line then if i drive down the road it quickly goes up. I drove about 5 minutes to work this morning and it was close the the H line. Then driving home tonight again 5 minutes pulled into the drive way and steam was coming out of the engine by from the heater hoses...and clap wasnt on tight enough so i tighten it and its still overheating...engine ran fine and didnt over heat at all before i swaped it...what could it be??? Heater hoses on backwards? I have no clue :complain:

It isnt bled properly. Jack the front of the car up like 2 feet and then bleed it with the bleeder screw or through the radiator cap. The jacking up of the front is essential.

*edit* I could have sworn, on my mother's life, that I jacked up the rear of the car when I was bleeding my coolant system, but the internet seems to disagree. Maybe somebody can clarify.

Well i just drove it and it over heated in a matter of 5 minutes looked under the hood and there is a hair line like crack in my radiator and when you moved the upper hose steam came out and a little coolant. The upper hose is hot rad is hot and the lower is a little warm...i didnt jack up the front of the car when i drained the coolant but how do you bleed it properly after jacking it up? Just release the drain plugtill its all gone?

just drive on some boards or whatever to raise the front, take off your radiator cap, turn heat on all the way

add fluid until you can add no more and no bubble or nething are visible

also massage heater hoses to make sure its flowing good through the heater core

but the heat doesnt work at all..thats what i mean no matter how high the temp gauge says still no heat come out of the vents...

mine was doing the same thing i did everything bleed the entire system new thermostat and so i just removed the thermostat and it fixed everything so yeah give it a shot.

yea get a new thermostat, and make sure the fluid is flowing when u look inside the radiator, maybe your waterpump is doo doo

ok i drained all the coolant swapped the rad and it still overheated this time when i shut off the car coolant was splashed all on the inside of the front bumper and i tried taking he rad cap off and once i did a bunch of steam came out...i drove it not even 2 minutes up and down the road i just dont understand whats going on with this the motor didnt over heat or anything it worked fine when i swapped it...my gauge cluster doesnt work...the only part that works is the temp gauge any ideas?

I'm telling you, it's air in the system. You did swap thermostats right, or took yours out? Did you jack up the car when you were bleeding it?

yup i jack up the front of the car...and what do you mean swap thermostats? I swapped a whole motor and trans out of my car i didnt mess with anything like that..the car with the ka24de i put in my ran good...

After looking at it i noticed the lower radiator hose didnt have that sensor that isnt in the hose right before the radiator...i assume this can cause the problem? And where does that connect to the electric fan in the front of the radiator?

remove the thermo stat. if that fixes your problem. you either have a bad thermo or air in the system which isn't allowing the thermo to work properly.

remove thermostat and your problems should be fixed.
