Which parts to buy first?

When (yes, it will happen) i get my 98 240sx, ka24de, and was looking for basic bolt ons, to increase the accel through out the rpm range...
here's what my plans are, any feedback would be great

Cold air intake
MSD wires and coil pack
New plugs
Underdrive pulley kit
Hi-Power (HKS) or Apexi N1 exhaust
B&M Short throw shifter (no power gain)
Hotshot headers
Remove Cat
Bigger injectors
Hi flow Fuel Rail
Larger throttle body (avaliable for ka??)
Port and Polish
New Cams

Strip down unnecessary **** and buy lighter rims, seats etc (weight)

as far as i know, you're on the right track except for the following:

larger injector and high flow fuel rail-- no performance gain and they will just make you run rich

larger throttle body-- oem is large enough for n/a and is an upgrade for earlier 300zx's

also removing the cat may also be a step in the wrong direction since i have heard that some people have experienced some power loss

well anyway, that's my 2 centx

Re: Which parts to buy first?

Cold air intake- hope you know how to fab one up

MSD wires and coil pack- Help the motor handle the revs a little better, save till your almost done

New plugs- maintenance

Underdrive pulley kit- get a flywheel instead

Hi-Power (HKS) or Apexi N1 exhaust- if your staying N/A, make sure you go 65 mm at the most

B&M Short throw shifter (no power gain)

Hotshot headers- Definately get a header

Remove Cat-Leave it or get a high flow. you don't want to lose all your back pressure

Bigger injectors- Not necessary for N/A

Hi flow Fuel Rail- Same as above

Larger throttle body (avaliable for ka??)- I've never seen one

Port and Polish- Good

New Cams- Good

Strip down unnecessary **** and buy lighter rims, seats etc (weight)

^ thanks alot! cold air intake, whatever, i just ment intake in general.

So scratch the injectors and fuel rail, and buy a high flow cat instead of removing. And maybe i'll get a flywheel and underdrive kit

this information isn`t 100% accurate. From start to finish: A flywheel is good, get one, but pulleys help too, don`t buy the idea about harmonic dampening/balancing, you aren`t keeping this engine for long enough for it to possibly have an effect if there was one. Doing a test pipe has been dynoed to show a loss of midrange and low end, but not because of back pressure loss, but because it negates the effects of scavenging, don`t ever listen to someone who mentions backpressure as being good or necessary. More fuel won`t be necessary with i/h/e but if you get an ecu (or standalone), cams, and even minor headwork or pistons, you can certainly benefit from perfecting your a/f ratio when the amount of air you`re pushing gets to be significant enough to cause you running lean. As mentioned before this, the KADE TB is all it needs (assuming you don`t go for itb`s) *phew* well, there you go.
assuming you stay KA long term and build it, you oughta be able to make a pretty impressive beast off of all this. My biggest piece of advice: research endlessly, and make sure you do a lot of cross referencing, id est, there are a lot of nissan and s chassis specific forums, sites, and etc on the interweb, make sure you verify things you hear mentioned or rumored in places with people who are known or respected as knowing what they`re talking about. You can almost never go wrong with the more famous members of this site, DeviousKA and l2aine, and other people worth listening to would be wikd240, BigVinnie, ArticDragon, and PandaS14.

good luck, take care of your rare machine when you get her.

Just thought I'd chime in...

I understand you're working 3 jobs, but before you make all these plans, like someone else said, you should probably have the car first. Second, you should realize how much money all that is going to cost. I don't know what you really want out of your car, but if you find that later you want to do something else, it's going to be a step backwards, and thats a lot of time and money wasted.

Like Triiyan said though, you can make an impressive beast out of the stock KA if you plan to stick with it. I used to be a Honda guy, and originally I wanted to go N/A, but in all honesty it would have ended up costing a lot more than going FI. I wasn't looking for amazing numbers or anything, so I just Supercharged it and it was good enough for my intents and purposes, for more hp than I would have gotten N/A, and for less money I might add.

Tuning is key! Remember that. Good luck.
