please help me troubleshoot!!!!

ok finally got my 95 240sx home and in the garage. I havent played with it too much but here is what I have had the time to do so far..........the car does crank and I think I hear the fuel pump priming up. The car will not start though only sits there and cranks and cranks. Tonight I am going to check for spark and make sure that there is actually fuel coming in. Oh and also I checked the oil and it looks really sludged up. I am going to put it up on my ramps and see if anything comes out of the oil drain.

Specs are the car are as follows........
95 240sx, ka24de bone stock, autotrans. care is base model non SE if that helps also.

Any help you can offer is appreciated.

ok, I got a chance to look at it some more. i dont think it is a blown head gasket because the oil is still black and the rediator is full and the fluid isnt muddy at all. Im thinking it might be a sensor or possibly the fuel system. tonight I am going to check for compression, spark, and fuel, and drain the existing oil that is in it to see if there is any water in it. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

ok, I took off my valve cover and noticed the lower timing chain is broken. the reason i know this is because I cranked the car with it removed and the cams didnt move. So I guess a new motor it is. or does anyone know if the timing chain can just be changed on these cars once it breaks or does it do damage to the internals?

you can normally replace the timing chain, but if the internals are messed up, thats a doff story

In comparison to Honda's... when the timing chain busts.. it ***s up the head/valves and the like; Nissan's don't, least in my exp I haven't seen one. Just change the chain.. and u should be guud for another 150k-200k miles.
