Questions about crank angle sensor

I seem to be having a problem with my crank angle sensor; it keeps setting off ECU codes, every two to three weeks. I was wondering if having an aluminum flywheel would cause that to happen. Through googling around I found out that the crank angle sensor has a magnet, and it detects the difference in gear teeth on the flywheel. Considering that I have changed the stock flywheel to an aluminum Fidenza one, I was curious if that would cause the sensor to not function correctly.

If that is not the case, what other then a bad sensor would cause it to throw codes? Could there be another thing might be broken that I am missing?

EDIT: This is a 95 240sx OBDII

The sensor itself could of become damaged when the fly wheel was installed.
I would look into replacing the sensor. You shouldn't be having problems with the aluminum flywheel installed.
