redone timing no go

I recently bought a 90 240sx coupe with a ka24e and it had timing problems so the timing on this was really messed up heres what i have done.

new timing chain
new timing chain guides <both>
new oil thrower
new timing chain tensioner
put it all back togeather

so I throw a new battery on and start it nothing just turns a few times it acts like its about to start but nothing im so lost i know for a fact that the timing is in check and on mark any help would be appreciated im gonna.
do a head compression test tomorow.

I know im getting spark and fuel

Did you make sure you marked the gears so they are in the same place? If not and they moved...good luck, it's gonna be a pain in the ass to reset.

i know this might sound weird but did you put the wires on the distributor cap in the order that the chiltons tells you? I know on mine they actually go 180 degrees out. i think chiltons says

12
34

just like that but mine is

43
21

when i did my timing job it took me nearly a day to figure that one out. i had spark and i had fuel but it just wouldn't start. sounds like you're having the same exact problem. i know this is a common problem too because my other 240 is 180 degrees out as well.

my friend whos ase certified told me that I need a whole new distributor hes certified espically on hondas and nissans,
he said something about some kind of sensor in the distributor is shot.
so im getting a new one to see if that does the trick

before you spend the money just try what i said. i'm almost 100% sure this will fix your problems. not to mention that moving the wires is free and will take about 20 seconds of your time and if i'm right it will save you what like 100-150.

sounds to me u put the dizzy of a tooth or 2

burnrubber 05-10-2006 07:03 PM

when i tested the spark i only tested piston 1
when i tested the others i had no spark on 2 3 or 4 only getting spark from 1 when i told him that he told me that its probly a sensor in the distributor does that sound like a possibility 2 you guys

re037 05-11-2006 04:38 AM

yeah, our distributors has a laser diode pickup which isnt repairable

burnrubber 05-11-2006 08:05 PM

well i got spark on the other three know it sounds like its trying to start but nothing do you guys think it could be were it sat for a year and a half???

dak2007 05-12-2006 01:17 PM

dude i'm telling you change your wire order. i promise you that's your problem. basically what's happening is you're getting spark but on the wrong stroke. if you want proof that i'm right just do this. take off your distributor cap and take out your number one spark plug. take a 27mm socket and put it on your crankshaft. put a screwdriver in your number one spark plug hole. turn the socket until the screwdriver is all the way up. this is top dead center. now look at your dizzy rotor. where it is that's where your number one spark plug wire needs to go.

if you want confirmation that the wires can be 180 degrees out i can take a picture of my dizzy and wires and whatnot to show you that it is indeed 180 out.
