Removing the clutch fan for good
 

What do poeple do when they remove the clutch fan?? I mean do they just run there stock electric fan?? or do I need to buy another fan with the stock electric??

an electric fan will be needed, some buy the altima fans and use them.

just get one that is big enough and pushes or pulls enough air. i fabbed an electric fan of my own but me car will heat up after some stop and go driving during the summer. also it would be a good idea to replace the thermostat with a lower temp setting.

Typically people just run a set of flex a lite electric fans. It is a pretty easy install but there was a write I saw somewhere of someone wiring the electric fan to just always be on when the car was running which seem to cool the car just fine. I will post up the link if and when I can find it.

i got altima fans and a koyo radiator and been in bumper to bumper traffic for more then an hour in 96 degree weather with the ac on and i had no overheating problems. this was yesterday btw lol Koyo rad ftw

or you can just run a s14 radiator/electric fan combo like i have been running for the last 2-3 years. never have heat issues.

im running a kia fan. works fine. no overheating issues. been using it for almost a year. cleans up the bay a bit, frees up a few horses, gets rid of that gay clutch fan sound when accelerating.

ya i always hated that sound made me feel like i was driving a truck and not a 240..

I just wired my stock electric fan to stay on the whole time. i know people just make a switch and wire into a relay near the battery.

there was a writeup about wiring the fan to a thermostat to control the temp. IMO that's the best way to go.

head light relay with switch will do the job.

So can I use my stock electric fan???? What is that fan for anyways? How would I rig it up so it will turn on when my temp rises?

well, no that's for the a/c you'll need something like flex a lite or fal. like i said some use altima fans, ford torus, pontaic fiero, any electric fan that will move enough air is good.

next you'll need a temp switch.

then get one or two spdt (single pull double throw) relays depending if you use one or two fans. the head light relays happen to be spdt relays so you can use those. read this to wire then up.

ive got a friend doing that. works fine. he just wired it up to the ACC relay.

i just realized today that the reason the temp goes up higher than normal is because i set the temp higher on the switch during the winter and forgot to set it back.

I have no fan whatsoever on my hatch. No overheating problems ever, not even in bumper to bumper traffic.
