Rpm Gauge Not workin anyamore

My RPM Guage doesnt work and that sucks. what can i do to fix it.?. What could the problem be is it the Wire harness that runs to the fuel injectors in the engine bay that is bad somewhere or what can it be?? And will a 89 KA24E motor with a 89 wire harness work with a 90 KA24E ecu ?.?. i know the ecu changed slitely between the two years..
any help please...

*tachometer

Did it just stop working out of the blue? Did you do anything that could have caused it to stop working?

Well first off, unless you know the guy, it's hard to trust a previous owner. Who knows what could have really happened.

As for your problem, pop out the cluster and double check the wiring. I heard somewhere about splicing the tach wire to the CAS.

If you happen to have a friend with a 240, try using his cluster in your car. If that works you can just replace your whole cluster from a junkyard.

Or you can always get an aftermarket tach .

Im just better off getting a aftermarket cluster then... Just out of the blue does the wiring harness that goes to the fuel injectors have to do anything with it?? cuz the one i got is all cut up around the fuel injectors so i was just wonderin...

happend to me.. I just wired the tach straight from the ecu wire, to the back of the cluster.

Tachs only go out for a few reasons. Either the gauge itself is bad, the ECU is bad/wrong, the RPM input sensors/wiring going to the ECU are bad [Crank/Camshaft Position Sensors (which would trigger a check engine light)], or the wiring going to/from the tach is bad....always a good idea to use year specific ECU's....good luck!
