Sqealing noise at star up????

I get this loud sqealing noise whenever I start my car up, but when i rev it up it goes away. The last thing that i have done was put in a new alternator. I would appreciate any feedback.

Check your belts. This happened on my friends car and it turned out his belts had alot of slack, so when he started the car it would squeal but then would go away after we revved it. We tightened them and it was ok.

This might also be your problem?

Definitely glazed/old belts. Replacing them is cheap and easy, and good insurance against getting stuck someplace with a dead charging system.

It's also a good idea to clean up the pulleys with some parts cleaner and scotchbrite to make sure they don't have any grease or oil on them that can transfer to the new belts.

If the belts are old, I would replace them.

I had that problem until I tightened my belts. It got really annoying.
