starting issue!!
 
:help::banghead:jus installed a new starter,plugs,cap n rotor,checked the timing,checked all the fuses,and still i cannit find out y its not starting.!!!aarrggg!!!when i go to start it you jus her the starter whining and u can see the pullies spinning but its jus not kickin over as to start..the other starter i had did the same thing that was the reason for me changing it ...hopefully one of you guys can give me some clues as to what in the world is goin on..the fubby thing is that when i turn the motor by hand it sounds like the starter jus back in to place then you go to start it,it acts like its gonna start for 2 secs n startes whining again..i think its the ignition coil or starter is crAp..:banghead:

Did you check to see if your getting spark? or maybe your fuel pump went out?

im gettin spark..its looks a lil weak..i think imma install a blaster coil..u think the fuel pump could cause that?hmm well i'll install the walboro i got an see if that does it..what else you guys think it may be if that doesnt work

before you start replacing parts because you think they might be bad you need to test them. you say you are getting a spark but it looks weak, what looks weak about it? if you're getting a spark i doubt that is the problem. to be sure you need to test the primary and secondary circuity of the coil. then the check the resisitance on the plug wires, if that checks out fine moue on to the fuel pump and test that. then the injectors,fpr, and so on. you'll need a fsm so dl one if you haven't done so already.

how would you go about checkin the ignition coil???volt meter?brand new pump...so thats fine.. now if i lost compression in one cylinder would it cause this??

you check with a digital meter. as Jram said, go to the how to section and down load the FSM, it will tell you how to do it.


yes if the compression is bad enough, the car will not start. do you have a compression tester?

Did you ever remove the distributer? You might not be at tdc, top dead center. I was having the same problem and it was because I removed the distributer and installed it 180 degrees from tdc.

Next time your crank it, pull a plug right after you stop turning the engine over. SMELL the plug, that will tell you if you have fuel getting into the cylinders. My current motor didnt start at all becuase of horribly bad compression, like 40psi wet, so yes bad compression can cause a dead motor but you really gotta try at that one.

so what kinda of head work should i get now??thinkin of ordering dual spring kit and maybe some bc or crower 264 cams..has anyone tried the 272 bc's??

straight damn 0 and 10 think i might of bent a vavle or somethin..i gotta finish taking it off in the morn and take it to a shop and hope for the best..if not i might have to find an s14 ka head..if one of you guy got one layin around let me kno..im stressin..what kinda of head gaskets are you guys using??i had a cometic on there wit copper spray and im not to sure if imma use it again..what u think is the best gasket for n/a??

0 and 10 are very very low so now i'm curious as to what led to this. even with a blown head gasket i'd expect slightly higher numbers. as for the gasket, i've always gone with any quality oem gasket that was used on it originally.

yea...koo..i was kinda shocked about the low #'s myself but soon as i take the head off i should has some answers..im prayin nothin crazy happened like a hole in a piston
