Throttle control motor

Does nissan have another name for the throttle control motor? I have the manual for my 96 but can't seem to locate it. Everyone I have talked to tells me it should be located next to the air box but I can't find it.

That's why I was wondering if maybe nissan calls it something else. I'm lost. If I knew what nissan called it I could look it up in the manual.

Then again, it could just be called "throttle control motor" and I may just be missing it.

I've never heard of a "throttle control motor"... the E and DE motors both have cable-controlled throttle bodies.

:dunno:

The rest of the story:
My check engine light came on so I pulled into the parts store on my way home to have them read the code. (easier than pulling the ecu) This is when he tells me that I need a new one or to possibly clean my old one... Showed me the part on the screen... Funny looking thing that I can't find under my hood anywhere.

Whatever it is it costs about $200 and they will not show me where it is on the car because they say they don't know either.

He also said the same code could be thrown by a vacuum leak so I checked everything last night. All my hoses look good but a few of my valve cover bolts where very loose. I tightened them down & hope this will solve the problem.

I don't know what the code was because he reset my ECU so I guess if it kicks on again I'll have to take it to the mechanic... Even though I have little faith in my mechanic as of late.

That's why i'm trying to learn as much as I can... I can't seem to find anyone trustworthy in my area to work on my car.

$200 and they don't even know where it is.

hmm... sounds shady to me. The only remote thing I can think of that might fit is the "Throttle position sensor" maybe?

Your best bet is to wait until the light goes on again, then check the ECU error code yourself. Use this and you should be able to figure out what the code is. :thumb:

Was driving today and the light came back on. Checked it and got code #25 IACV-AAC Valve. Looked it up in the manual. Something called an "Absolute Pressure Sensor".

I pulled it from the car to get a better look at it. Here is a picture:

It says "Boost Sensor" on the bottom. Strange looking thing. Parts store says they have no idea what it is and have never heard of it. They say I'll have to find one in the junkyard if it is bad.

Any ideas? The hose going to it seems fine. Blew through it and it's not clogged or cracked.
