What is this?

Ok listen to this. Drain oil, only one quart comes out, obviously have either a leak or im burning it. Changed oil. Come out of work puddle of oil under car. Go home, find promblem, (leaky oil filter), fix it. Now all my car does is spew out smoke from the exhaust. Is this either burnt piston rings or just oil burning real bad? Have to figure out how much money i have to spend into my endless money pit (my car) to fix it.

it depends on what color the smoke is ...
i think blue means your burning oil and white means your running lean ( keywords are: i think )

Blue is oil, white is coolant. Check your coolant for oil.

oil by the spark plugs means your valve cover is leaking... there is a gasket that goes around the sparkplug and the bolt holes... it comes in the gasket set when you replace the valve cover...

Blue smoke is oil burning, white smoke means that youre burning either some sort of contaminant, (like after using seafoam) or youre burning coolant, which would indicate a blown head gasket.
