in my 240, when im in 5th, i get to about 3500 rpm an then it slows down until it gets to 3000. is that the governor? how do i remove it?

 

It definately isnt the govenor, cuz i have taken mine above 5000 in 5th, unless maybe your's is screwed up.

 

yeah, i didnt think it was the governor, but i still cant figure out what it is?

 

But if it is the governor, anyone know how to remove it on a 1990 ?

 

how fast is your car going at 3500?...
yuo have to hit the redline to hit the governor...
i think you should take it to a mechanic...

 

my speedometor is messed up so i dont know how fast im going. I think i should just take it to a mechanic that knows what hes doin.

 

I think you should take it to a machanic, if its only going to 3500 rpm then dropping and your speedometer does not work you car is messed up

 

haha, i know i just bought it a week ago for real cheap so i just started to fix it up

 

my 5th gear rev limiter is at like 5300 rpms
i'm hit my speed limiter before 5300 rpms in 5th gear, but when i put the clutch in and rev it, theres definatly a limiter
all other gears its at ~7200rpm

 

haha i definitely got screwed by my rev limiter. anyone kno if there is a limiter on 4th gear in a 98?

this one nite i kicked it with a gsr on the interstate. prolly a 70mph kick, i pulled about a car and a half, looked at my rpm (round 5000 by then time i looked), looked back at the gsr, now i was about 2 cars ahead, looked at my rpm again and thought, ok a little longer and then 5th gear, looked at the gsr again, and it was pullin up.

i looked again and my revs weren't climbing anymore, so i threw it into 5th before i got a good look at wut rpm i was at, im absolutely positive it was nowhere near redline. any suggestions???

 

where do you live? because I have a stock 1990 240sx and still can go up to 5300 rpm and I am going 115 mph but it also cut the gas at that speed.

so is there n e way I am pass that speed?
