bye bye to my 240

well guys the winter months are approaching quick and i think i might be saying adios to the 240 scene for a while...we all know how ruff the north east can get when even the slightest amount of snow falls on the ground, ecspecially NJ with there sucky road jobs...so my idea is to sell my 240sx and trade my other car in for a nissan frontier 4x4 V6 or a toyota Tacoma 4x4 V6..i have never driven a 240 in the snow so im not sure how it will perform or even if i wanna try...the hard part about it all is my 240 has a newer engine and tranny in it as well as alot of other new parts and i really dont wanna get rid of it but having the luxury of 4x4 and V6 is nice to have...i dunno whats ur guys opinion.

You gotta do what you gotta do I suppose. I JUST got my 240 yesteday, so I deffinitly wont be gettin rid of it, its just gonna get parked in someones garage all winter. I dont know what I'll be driving yet, I'm guessing my moms explorer. Good luck with that man, and if you do sell it, hopefully you'll be able to find another one after winter is over.

I live in MA~ and it DEFINITELY snows more here than in Jersey. The 240 is fine in the snow (unless you have to get somewhere FAST) if you're careful. There's a thread on the forum about driving in the snow that was on here a few weeks ago.

Get snow tires... REAL snow tires, Blizzaks or such, on all 4 wheels. No problems!

The s14 has spent 5 PA winters with no problems when the snows were on...

exactly, In fact I have a 1989??? Jetta that I use just for that purpose. It needs some minor work done right now, but as long as I get that fixed my 240 won't be running during the winter. However I must say that for the past 5 years I've been tackling winter in this car without THAT much difficulty. And that's without snow tires. So I imagine that if you got snow tires you'd be absolutely fine as long as you use common sense. No school or work requires you to be there when there's over 1.5 feet of snow on the ground.

yah, it's in the wheels/brakes/suspension section... not too many replies last time I checked though.

twofotisx, you have an '89 Jetta? Is that the one with the circular headlights? Those are the only Jetta's I like. Is it hard to work on? Find parts?

No selly 4 the too-faur-tee......I drove one last winter and it's not bad, just practice normal snow etiquite....(no laying skinny pedal down on turns, no 100mph runs...etc) If nothing else park it somewhere and drive/buy/rent/ANYTHING another car.

maaan, I have stock 195/60/15 all seasons on my 240 last winter and now I have Falken Zeix 225/50/16s on her. (I'm switching back to the 195s for the winter as I don't want to put my rims thru road salt/etc) Even in heavy snow when other people weren't on the road, I was driving around, having a ball. Its really not hard to drive RWD in the snow... in fact I prefer RWD to FWD because its easier to deal with oversteer.... understeer in a FWD can be scary sometimes. I used to drive my G20 in the snow and that was fun, but understeer sucked.

In any case, I'm gonna be rockin my 240 all winter long cuz I got no problems with it.
