You will kill him, end of story...unless you are a bad driver. |
If u don't beat him u should give ur car to someone else who can drive.SMOKE HIS AZZ
|
be sure to give him the numbers to a few good body shops. he'll need them to put his doors back on.:D
|
tell him best out of 3: drag, drift, autocross. You'll be collecting $$ after the second day :p
|
be careful.. he may have v-tak..
like it matters :p |
why don't you just race and see..
|
You would smoke the hell out of his car. Since its one of them old civics too. Its probably makes around 80 horsepower to the wheels and that power comes in a high rpms. You would smoke the hell out of his ass.
|
Honda's can make some good power with some work and tuning *gasp*.....
but stock?!! You should kill him just from the launch. |

I wouldn't know at this point ... it all depends on the driver now...
|
know thy enemy
rock some research on civics and other 'hot hatches!!!' and get the numbers on them. its pretty easy to look at the power differences and know that you will take him. and check where the power on one comes in at. you'll pull a 2nd gen NA RX7 like its not even moving off the line, but once they get up on the revs and moving, they can pull gears out longer and catch up quick. honduhs are usually the same. minus the catching up part |
LMAO that post was priceless. best part was the minus the catchin up. LOVE IT!
:barf: HONDA RICERS |

How is it possible that he will "hand him his ass"? They run virtually identical times.( give or take .5 sec's, depending on model).
The 1990 is 14 years old & i'm sure it has the original engine. pretty ragged out. The catback MAY HAVE brought it back to STOCK performace levels. But highly dobt it. Considering the honda is stock & i'm sure he haasnt had it since it was new. It may still be in rather good shape. They last ALOT longer than the 2.4L I would have to say it would be a fairly close race. Depending on Model & "state of tune" for each car. |
how is it possible that they run identical times? turbo 's14'vs n/a 'civic' :dunno:?? and its a 2.0.. not 2.4..
how long have you been living in japan?? i know for shure i'd get lost readin them road signs.. |
Originally posted by Project Cheap13 How is it possible that he will "hand him his ass"? They run virtually identical times.( give or take .5 sec's, depending on model). have you ever been to a drag race? do you know how long .5 seconds is? use this as easy refrence: .1sec = 1 car length a 1/2 of a second when you are drag raceing is a VERY LONG TIME. 1/2 a second sends one guy home with the prom queen. my saturn (when it wasnt FI) ran 16.3 it was a 5spd, my friends saturn with the same mods ran a 16.6, his was an auto. every race was very decisive. and that is 'only' .3 seconds. back to the origional topic. lets see. the top model Civic (non-Si) has 127 HP. a stock top of the line KA24 powered 240 has 155hp another thing to consider is weight. the civic weighs less, thus that 127hp isnt working 'as hard' as the KA24 to move the car. BASE civic is another story. little over 110hp however if i recall 240 history a bit, the 90 240 has 130hp? and then weight comes back into play. now im not saying you wont win but chose your races wisely. looks can be decieving. this one should be in the bag unless you dont know how to drive. ive been reading alot about sr20det 1/4 mile times. when i get my 240 and SR swap i intend on raceing my friends 92 civic hatch with a JDM H22a (220bhp). he runs mid 13`s. his car is totally gutted and tips the scales at a little over 2000lbs. i plan on running 10psi on the SR motor, if my math is 'close' that should give me roughly 200rwhp. (205 stock 7psi, using the rough 1psi = 10hp another 3psi would produce 235hp, minus drive line losses of ~15% is about 200RWHP) i know id lose the race. its all in the math. we may put the same rubber burning power to the pavement, but his car weighs less so he has a greater power to weight ratio then i would. |

Those numbers are nice & fine if we lived in a perfect world where all the cars stayed NEW for forever but they dont. Do you actually think a 14year old SOHC KA is putting down 140HP( not 155HP that is the DE). But you did correct yourself. A honda if cared for properly hive have more "power" so to speak. Meaning the engine stays in better shape than the 240. Also, Yes I have been going to the track for over 15 years & racing for over 10. .5 seconds on a track is hell of alot different than .5 seconds on the STREET. Worn out cars. Improper tire inflation. Crown on the road road surface, ect.... That .5 seconds can quickly diminish. |
just to throw a curve, how about the fact that even an S13 has 15" tires on a RWD (read: drag friendly) chassis designed to be a sports car, whereas the Civic is probably on 14 pizzas on a FWD chassis (read: mad tire spin at high rpm launches) that was designed to get great mileage and... to be a grocery getter? (Last reference due to how Honda's were not equipped stock for grip, but less resistance to eek out more distance per gallon)?
Just a thought. :D |
Originally posted by l2aine probably That was my whole point. NOTHING is concrete when dealing with old cars. They could have cheap ass all season tires( on either car). Just as a note on the grocerygetter.......My old Galant Vr4 was a grocery getter:D |
point taken about street VS track. and thank you for not taking offence to what i had said about 1/2 a second.
|
damn you guys will fight about anything
did these cars ever race? |
whos fighting?

BRING IT!! WHAT???
anything VR-4 is going to get groceries.. just.. very.. very.. quickly.. |
