I saw that on the news today. I think they're lying. They've offered no proof of this.

Re: cloned human baby born today!!!!!

Makes me sick to my stomach:barf: . These people are fu(ked up in the head and need some serious help. Cloning is just wrong, even if you want to have a baby. I mean there are so many children out there that need to be adopted and now people are turning to cloning--that's just sick and stupid.
Next thing you know, we'll be able to customize our future children..."Hmm, honey what do you think, should it be a he or she? He? Okay. We'll have a boy then, now what color hair and eyes? How intelligent should he be?" Seriously, how ridiculous is that?:ugh:

1. Cloning is just wrong, even if you want to have a baby.

well i'm sorry, but i'm not all too sure if we see eye to eye on everything. I was truly excited about the news, can you think of the implications this will have on the future? seriously, we are living in one of the turning points in the history of the world...how exciting is that?!

onto your points

1st. in my opinion cloning isn't wrong. it should be up to the couple weither or not they want to adapt or clone if they cannot concieve naturally. i understand that there are MILLIONS of starving children in third world countries around the world without anyone in their lives acting as a positive reinforcment. Aside from having 2 kids of my own, i plan to adapt a kid who grew up in poverty and bring him back to the states.

2nd. its all up to individual choices....this IS the united states, the right to choose is what this country was founded on. Quakers wanted to choose their own religion, so they came here and founded a nation. To be a free-thinking people with the right to decide how we want to live our own lives IS the American dream, we have the right to say what we want, to read what we want (i highly recommend reading "Manufacturing Consent: the Political Economy of Mass Media") And who are you to make decisions for other people? Who are you to take away their God given rights to decide for themselves? I say this, not to yell at you or to "*****" you out; but to try and show you different prespectives and maybe give you insight onto things you may have over-looked.

If by chance you had kidney problems, and for some odd reason they just decided to shut down on you. Chances are you wouldn't find a donor in time...wouldn't you want YOUR own kidney? Wouldn't you want to be able to have doctors culture your kidney cells, clone YOUR OWN kidney, and put it inside of you? I mean the chances of your body rejecting the "donor" kidney would be almost 0%.

its just an analogy, i know in theory this wouldn't work considering the amount of time it would take to grow your kidney....but the point should still be clear

i'm for it too

Ever see the movie "The 6th Day" with Arnold Schwartzenagger (sp)? It was pretty far fetched, but it also brings up some ethical issues about cloning and how some people can misuse it.

Re: Re: cloned human baby born today!!!!!

What's the point of cloning yourself for anything other than stem cells? If that lady really was cloned that clone is gonna be one fu(ked up human. I'll bet it'll have premature aging an die in it's teens. Stupid rich people...just adopt.

This is off topic, but just to let you know you can already choose the sex of your baby. The other stuff is a few years off though.

the people at clone-aid (i dont know if thats the correct spelling but the people at clone-aid are the ones claiming they cloned the baby......just in case anyone didn't know) said they fixed that problem. they said that this lady had 3 miscarrages before this one, and they found a soultion that prevents all the birth defects and weird crap that could happen later in life

but really, how do they know? i guess they really dont, 'cause surely this clone will have to be studied to see if their "solution" really worked. there are no other test-subjects...

That's how you can tell they are lying. It's IMPOSSIBLE to reconstruct DNA. Which they would have to do, since the aging and dying proccess is causd by the unavoidable destruction of your own DNA through out your life.
