rotary engine !,lol

TenSecondTom 09-24-2005 05:23 PM

WTF is a rotary engine??

Bryan 09-24-2005 05:38 PM

a rotary engine is the engine most commonly found in RX-7's and RX-8's and does not rely on pistons to make power

shotty53 09-24-2005 06:41 PM

it looks clean.. but, give it a test drive, see how it is.. take a look at the engine bay and check to see how much rust it has...

Duh!

Rotary Piston with a titanium SuperFanInduction Charger.

I'm so jealous.

   My guess is if the guy doesnt know what ind of motor he has, I wouldnt buy from him

...all the BS aside.

The guy that's selling the car obviously doesn't know what he has.

That's a good thing.

You can BS your way into buying the car for a lot cheaper, considering you know something about the 240.

If that guy was around me, I'd actually check out the car. Give it a run, check for the basic stuff. If it passes by my standard, then it's time to drive a hard bargain.

"You know this rotary engine is really old, plus it doesn't even have (some Feature). So there goes some of it's value."

You get the point.

Best bet is to bring someone that knows their **** and hope you can find a diamond in the rough.

If you know nothing about cars in general, or knows someone that has no clue what a KA engine is...

YOU ARE ****ED IN THE ASS!

...go buy a honda, can't go wrong w. that.

TenSecondTom 09-25-2005 07:47 AM

so is the rotary engine better??

Bryan 09-25-2005 07:58 AM

unless the guy took the time and money to get a rotary engine to work in that car, which is very very highly doubtful, it does not have a rotary, its probably more that the guy either hit the wrong choice or he is an idiot. The 240sx has never came with a rotary engine.

naptime 09-25-2005 10:00 AM

Why do you want a 90 OR a 91? Totally different motors in those years. And NONE of the 240sx came with rotary engines. If someone swapped a rotary engine in that 240, I think it would be worth more than $800.
People have swapped an SR into FD's and RB (and SR )into an FC, but I've never heard of anyone swapping in a rotary into a piston'd car.
Go check the car out and see look for rust spots, ie. trunk (lift the cover of the spare wheel and see),
Test drive the car. I forgot to read the ad, but what type of title does it have? If salvaged, been into an accident? Ask those questions.
$800 sounds like a good deal, but remember.....if it sounds too good to be true, then there's probably something wrong with it.

Research before you buy anything...to me it appears that you have just as much knowledge as the seller on autotrader...
